“Where the Spirit of Scouting Lives for Troop 72″
Camp Spirit has been the home to Troop 72 and Pack 72 since February 1996. This beautifully wooded, 23 acre tract of land is located in Fogelsville, PA. Hassen Creek Lodge, the main building at Camp Spirit and often referred to as the “Scout House” or “Pack House” is a magnificent facility for our Troop and Pack. The building is a 5,500 square foot structure built partially into a sloping hillside. It has a large meeting room, three conference rooms, and restrooms all on the main floor. The lower level is the storage level for all of our camping equipment, firewood, sleds, and other assorted items. Outside, there is a paved parking lot that can accommodate 28 vehicles. The building was formally dedicated May 19, 1996, when a cornerstone was placed to commemorate that historic year and the many years to come. The success of our building project was due to the man talents of our Leaders, Scouts, parents, and friends. Along with Pack 72, we raised $76,000 for the construction of our facility. Hassen Creek Lodge was built without contractors, but by the independent labor of dedicated leaders and scouts. A stone arch from Camp Moritz (our former residence) that was a Scout project of Assistant Scoutmaster Dave Kutzor, was brought over and placed at the entrance to the Chapel. The path leads to the theater-like seating that faces Haasen Creek. Camp Spirit – the home of Troop 72 and Pack 72!
