Community Service

Troop 72 is proud to participate in several on-going community service projects:

Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food directly benefits the Lehigh Valley Food Bank. Every November, approximately 2,000 – 3,000 pounds of canned and packaged food goods are collected by Troop 72 Scouts each year.
For 2010, Troop 72 collected over 1,800 pounds for Scouting for Food!Gamelands Sign

Pennsylvania State Game Lands Cleanup
Twice each year, the Boy Scouts and Leaders of Troop 72 perform a cleanup of the roads and parking lots on the PA State Game Lands off Route 100.  The Scouts have officially adopted the Game Lands as their responsibility to clean and maintain each year, as sanctioned by the PA Game Lands Forest Commission.

Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley
In 2008, 2009, and now in 2011, Troop 72 teamed up with the Miracle League to help physically and mentally challenged kids play baseball in their own beautiful stadium off Rt. 309.  As “Angels in the Outfield,” Troop 72 adopted the Red Sox as their team for 2008.

Cornerstone Living and Retirement Home
Boy Scouts from Troop 72 visit Cornerstone Living (formerly Jenny’s Country Homestead) each Christmas, providing Christmas carols and gifts to brighten the Holiday Season for the residents.
